We are pleased to introduce the latest in radiographic
technology called 3D Cone Beam Dental X-rays. This technology
allows us to capture and reproduce the detailed 3D anatomy
of the head and lower jaw region.
Cone beam imaging is one of the most important breakthroughs
in dental radiology and has proven effective for a wide
range of care and treatment applications. Cone beam technology
is a reliable, affordable, and very safe for our patients
due to emission of very low radiation levels.
|
3D
imaging offers cross-section slices of desired locations
such as the TMJ and implant areas. We are able to identify
size and volume of bone and teeth in three dimensions
without distortion or magnification. In addition, important
structures such as the nerve canal can be easily and
accurately identified.
The benefits include:
- |
Dramatically lower radiation emission. An average
CT scan is about 600-700 microsieverts, while cone
beam imaging is usually less than 70 microsieverts. |
- |
No distortion or magnification exists, which is
normal for dental radiographs. |
- |
The scan can be taken at our office rather than a
referral to another x-ray location, thus eliminating
delays and inconvenience. |
- |
Critical nerve locations can be located. |
- |
Bone thickness and volume can be determined for implant
placements. |
- |
Traditional dental radiographs are two
dimensional while 3D x-rays are a true spatial representation
of the human skull. |
