For years,
dental occlusion has been largely a matter of guesswork
for dentists. Marking paper, waxes and pressure indicator
paste were the only tools available to assess and adjust
the forces of the bite. These methods do not detect simultaneous
contact, nor do they quantify the time and force of the
bite.

McKenzie
Dental is pleased to offer T-Scan, a computerized
bite analysis program. The T-Scan brings unprecedented
accuracy to analysis of dental occlusion, and quickly
and precisely determines the amount of force of your
bite.
The
software graphically displays both the force and
time of premature contacts of teeth, which allows
us to adjust the bite. Evaluating occlusal forces
is as simple as having the patient bite down on the
ultra-thin sensor while a computer analyzes and displays
the data. The procedure is painless to the patient,
and is done without anaesthesia. A typical response
after a T-Scan adjustment is “my bite feels
better now”. |

|
Patients are able to see for themselves where
they are biting, how hard they are biting, and receive an
accurate adjustment to their bite. Using the T-Scan can minimize
trauma to abutment teeth, broken implant abutments, unstable
dentures, fractured dental restorations, and ineffective
splints. |
 |
T-Scan has proven to be an excellent source
of technology for treating our patients who have ongoing
sensitivity with fillings, crowns, and even natural enamel
surfaces.
|
 |
The
T-Scan is the only technology available to measure
dental bite forces and
quantify how well-balanced a patient’s bite is.
In summary, the T-Scan helps our patients visualize and
understand
the nature and degree of occlusal disharmony (bite problems).
Furthermore, T-Scan provides the necessary technology
for our dental team to treat the newly diagnosed bite
conditions.
